A new monthly luncheon series, sponsored by Indie Connect and whose goal is “to unite and improve the Nashville music industry,” will launch on Thursday, July 25 at 11:30 a.m. at Belcourt Taps.

The guest speaker will be Taylor Swift’s former manager, Rick Barker, who will discuss “How Taylor Swift Changed the Music Industry and How It Affects Up-and-Coming Artists.”

According to event founder and Indie Connect CEO Vinny Ribas, the new series of monthly luncheons is “an effort to bring together people from all areas and levels of the Nashville music industry.” Each event will feature structured networking followed by a speaker or panel of speakers addressing topics of interest to the music community.

Mr. Ribas said he has three specific goals for the monthly luncheons:

* To get people from all areas of the music community networking with and supporting each other;

* To address and discuss topics that are either of interest to, or that affect, everyone in the Nashville music industry;

* To work to develop solutions to local and global challenges facing the industry.

“We want to get everyone in the Nashville music community working together to help Nashville live up to the name ‘Music City’,” Mr Ribas said.  “We want to share the best of Nashville, as well as find ways to improve areas that need attention.”

The cost of the July 25 luncheon is $20 for those who register on or before July 21; $25 after that and at the door. The price includes a buffet luncheon.

The luncheons will always be held the last Thursday of the month.

Editor’s Note: “Underground Nashville” covers artists, authors, musicians, poets, political figures, and other compelling people and happenings not typically covered by the mainstream Nashville media. It also presents reflections and commentary from an underground/indie perspective, offering “thoughts from the shadows of a great American city.”
